Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has opened up about the importance of genotype compatibility when choosing a partner.

During a conversation on the One54 podcast, Adekunle Gold pointed out that both love and genotype compatibility should be openly discussed by prospective couples.

He noted that Simi’s AA genotype assured them they could start a family without facing the risks tied to certain incompatible genotype combinations.

The singer also shared that discussing genotype testing was one of the important topics he and Simi addressed early in their relationship. They underwent testing soon after they met, which helped them assess their compatibility before advancing their relationship and eventually getting married.

While underscoring these points, Adekunle Gold urged that people with sickle cell should not be deprived of love or dissuaded from relationships. Instead, he encouraged couples to become informed and prioritize genotype testing, especially when thinking about marriage and family planning.

Adekunle Gold fondly called AG Baby remarks have once again brought attention to the discussion around love, health awareness, and making informed choices as a couple.
