Nigerian singer Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi, known as Bella Shmurda, recently shared a controversial story from the early days of his music career.
He revealed that he once stole a boy’s bicycle and sold it to fund studio recording sessions. This occurred while he was living in the Okokomaiko area of Lagos, struggling to support his musical dreams.
During an interview with Echo Room TV, Bella Shmurda mentioned that he sold the bicycle at Alaba International Market for N7,000 Naira, using the money to pay for studio time. He described this as part of the challenging period he faced while trying to make his mark in the industry.
As his career progressed, Bella Shmurda reflected on the incident with regret. It’s reported that once he achieved financial stability, he sought out the bicycle’s owner and made amends by purchasing a replacement.
Bella Shmurda gained prominence in 2019 with his hit song *Vision 2020*, which attracted attention and led to a remix featuring rapper Olamide. Since then, he has become a significant figure in Nigeria’s street-pop scene. His recent story highlights the financial struggles and personal sacrifices that have been part of his journey to fame.
