Nigerian comedian and actor Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has opened up about the frightening experience of being hit by a stray bullet, revealing how the incident left him fearing for his life and uncertain about his future in entertainment.

The skit maker shared his experience in a personal video released in October, months after the shooting forced him away from public appearances and regular content creation. According to his account, the incident occurred on March 9, 2026, after he and his team had completed a brand activation assignment and were leaving the area when he suddenly heard a loud bang. He later discovered that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his hip.

Recounting the ordeal, Broda Shaggi explained that he initially struggled to understand what had happened before noticing blood around his injured hip. The situation quickly became frightening as he was rushed for medical attention, eventually losing consciousness before reaching the hospital. The comedian said his immediate concern was survival, while the seriousness of the injury raised questions about whether he would ever return to his normal routine.

Following the incident, he underwent surgery in Nigeria, but his recovery proved challenging as he struggled to regain movement in his leg. The injury was particularly distressing because his comedy performances often involve dancing, energetic movements and physical expressions that have become part of his appeal.

The entertainer also spoke about the emotional toll of spending months away from work, admitting that he sometimes became overwhelmed while watching his colleagues continue their activities online. Having maintained a demanding schedule involving skit production, music, writing and travelling, he found it difficult to adjust to a period when he could no longer perform as usual. He said he worried that audiences might forget him during his absence and questioned whether he would regain the ability to do the things he loved. Determined to remain creative despite his condition, he continued writing and began developing content for a YouTube series while undergoing treatment.

Seeking further medical attention, Broda Shaggi travelled to Dubai for another surgery after experiencing difficulties with the recovery process in Nigeria. He said the procedure brought renewed hope, with his mobility improving in the days that followed. Although he can now stand without crutches and has made progress in walking, he disclosed that he still relies on them for support as he continues his recovery.

Reflecting on the experience, the comedian expressed gratitude for surviving the shooting, noting that the bullet could have struck a more vital part of his body. His account highlights both the physical challenges of recovering from a serious injury and the emotional uncertainty that accompanied his time away from the spotlight.

Despite the difficult experience, Broda Shaggi is looking forward to returning to work with renewed determination. He described surviving the incident as a second chance and assured fans that he has exciting projects in the pipeline after months of limited activity.

His story has also drawn attention to the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which public reports have not conclusively resolved, including the identity of whoever fired the bullet. For now, the comedian is focused on his recovery and rebuilding momentum in his career, while expressing appreciation to supporters who remained concerned about his wellbeing during his absence.
