Reality TV star Phyna is celebrating a major victory after knocking out actress Nkechi Blessing in their highly anticipated celebrity boxing clash in Lagos. The former Big Brother Naija winner stopped her opponent in the fourth round at Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring event held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.
Following the bout, Phyna took to social media to appreciate the supporters who backed her throughout the build-up to the fight. The reality star said she remained composed during the earlier stages before turning up the pressure when it mattered most, eventually sending Nkechi to the canvas in the final round.
The victory also secured Phyna a place in Nigerian celebrity boxing history, as she became the winner of the country’s first female celebrity boxing contest. Beyond the bragging rights, the reality star reportedly received ₦50 million and a car for her triumph, while also revealing that she is considering taking boxing beyond the celebrity circuit and pursuing it professionally.
But Phyna was not done celebrating before identifying her next potential opponent. She called out Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia, who was present at the event and accepted the challenge after Phyna named her as the person she wanted to face next. Phyna had indicated that issues involving Etinosa’s direct messages were part of the reason behind the call-out.
The development adds another chapter to the growing celebrity boxing movement in Nigeria, where entertainers are turning public rivalries and social-media exchanges into bouts inside the ring. For Phyna, however, her victory over Nkechi Blessing could be the beginning of a new sporting journey as she weighs the possibility of pursuing boxing professionally.
